Beau cadre, beau temps et merveilleuse compagnie.

Plus de 30 membres de l’association ont profité du magnifique jardin d’Astrid et David Kniewasser lors d’un apéritif le 29 juillet dernier.

C’était la première fois que les membres avaient l’occasion de se rencontrer et l’environnement, la météo, la nourriture et les boissons ainsi que la bonne humeur en ont fait une soirée mémorable !

La Présidente a annoncé que l’association comptait maintenant 54 membres représentant 9 nationalités comme suit :
Français 24
Anglais 13
Néerlandais 5
Canadiens 3
Allemands 2
Irlandais 2
Suisses 2
Américains 2
Espagnols 1

(4 nouveaux membres français nous ont rejoints pendant la soirée, ce qui porte à 28 membres français pour un total de 58)

Les membres ont été sollicités pour indiquer leurs préférences pour de futurs événements, ainsi que leurs disponibilités pour les groupes de « conversation ». Ceux-ci débuteront en septembre.

Il a été suggéré pour maintenir la cohésion du groupe qu’un apéritif ou quelque chose de similaire pourrait avoir lieu tous les 29 du mois. Comme le 29 tombe chaque mois sur un jour différent, cela permettrait aux membres qui ont des engagements fixes d’y assister de temps en temps. Merci de nous faire savoir si cela vous convient.

Jean-Luc Cambon a parlé de la Fête de l’Enquant qui aura lieu le 13 août, et a expliqué l’offre spéciale faite aux membres de l’association pour le repas officiel et l’achat de vin d’exception : voir l’offre ici.

Huit nationalités étaient présentes lors de l’apéro, mais malgré le barrage de la langue les conversations sont allées bon train !

Stephane Roelofs a fait une brillante traduction du discours de Jean-Luc en anglais. Ses compétences étaient surtout l’habileté à mémoriser ce que Jean-Luc avait dit quelques minutes avant !

Nous espérons que cette superbe soirée sera la première d’une longue série. Merci beaucoup, Astrid et David, pour votre invitation.

Beautiful setting, beautiful weather and wonderful company

More than 30 members of the Association enjoyed an Apero in the delightful garden of Astrid and David Kniewasser on 29th July.  This was the first opportunity for members to meet and the  surroundings, the weather, the food and drink, and the laughter made this a memorable evening.

The President announced that there were now 54 members representing 9 nationalities as follows

French 24
English 13
Dutch 5
Canadian 3
German 2
Irish 2
Swiss 2
American 2
Spanish 1

(four new French members joined during the evening, resulting in  28 French members out of a total of 58). 

Members were asked to indicate their preferences for future events and also their most favoured times for conversation groups.  These will commence in September.

It was suggested that in order to keep the group together an Apero or something similar be held on the 29th of each month.  As the 29th will fall on different days of the week this will enable members who have many committments to attend at some time.  Please let us know if you would like this.

Jean-Luc Cambon talked about the Fete de L’Enquant which will take place on 13th August and also explained the special offer that is being made to members of the Association of wine and tickets to the official dinner.  See details here.

Eight nationalities were present at the Apero but conversation flowed despite the language differences.  Stephane Roelofs made a brilliant translation of Jean-Luc’s speech into English. His skills in translation matched only by his skill in remembering what Jean-Luc had said many minutes before.
